Stick with it, once you have taken it away, and do not give in. Showing sternness while you are setting rules will show your child that you are not playing with them, and you mean business.

When your child does obey the car seat rules, always praise the good behavior. Set goals for your child to follow the car seat rules for a whole week. For example, if your child follows the rules in the car seat for a whole week, reward your child at the end of the week for following the rules. This will give your child something to look forward to as well as a treat for obeying the rules and using good behavior.

Once your child comes out of his or her car seat the first time, that is when car seat rules need to be set. Stick with them, and do not scream and holler at your child while you are driving down the road, simply pull over to the side of the road, and put your child back into his or her car seat. Most times yelling and screaming will get you nowhere with your child, and it will only make you tired.
